BONDERITE® L-CA 395
Water-based insulating coating for small to medium surface area castings in aluminum permanent mold applications.
BONDERITE® L-CA 395 (also known as Dag® 395) is a water-based diecasting lubricant that contains refractory pigments. BONDERITE® L-CA 395 is formulated to be an insulating coating for aluminum permanent mold casting, and provides controlled solidification of the molten metal to achieve higher quality castings. BONDERITE® L-CA 395 is recommended for small to medium surface area castings to achieve good surface finish.
BONDERITE® L-GP PRODAG is often used as a graphite release agent in conjunction with BONDERITE® L-CA 395. BONDERITE® L-GP PRODAG is sprayed over BONDERITE® L-CA 395 to achieve good surface finish, excellent release and extend the life of the mold coating.
Specifications
Pigment: Vermiculite and refractories Concentrate Consistency: Soft paste Diluent: Water Solids content: 30%-34% Density: 10.5–11.0 lb./gal Shelf life: 24 months from date of qualification under original seal
Features & Benefits
Protects against die erosion to improve die life and reduce downtime Provides solidification control of the molten metal Non-toxic, non-flammable and smokeless
Problems Solved
BONDERITE® L-CA 395 helps provide a solution to the following industry & application problems:
Poorly cast problem areas such as corners and sharp edges Short die life Excessive down-time and scrap pieces due to poor quality castings Fumes and smoke in the work space
Applications
Diluted BONDERITE® L-CA 395 should be sprayed to ensure a uniform coating, however BONDERITE® L-CA 395 can also be brushed. Recommended starting dilution is 1:4 (BONDERITE® L-CA 395:water); the final dilution varies depending on the application. The concentrate should be agitated before and during dilution, and stirred occasionally during use. Mold surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and heated to at least 177°-204°C (350°-400°F) for fast evaporation and good film formation.
Low-pressure die casting is an affordable and efficient method to produce quality aluminum casts. Learn about this casting process and how the Henkel BONDERITE® lubricants support low-pressure casting.
