BONDERITE® L-FM TI-KOTE A
BONDERITE® L-FM TI-KOTE A is a white powder that dissolves in water to deposit a tight, adherent conversion coating on titanium substrates.
BONDERITE® L-FM TI-KOTE A (previously known as TI-KOTE A) is a white powder that easily dissolves in cold water to deposit a conversion coating on titanium surfaces prior to forming operations. The solution chemically forms a tight, durable coating on the substrate to prevent metal-on-metal contact. This coating acts as a protective barrier, significantly reducing the friction between the titanium surface and drawing die, thus preventing metal pick-up and galling. It also allows the surface to retain higher amounts of drawing soap, enabling a smoother operation, fewer defects, and faster draws. The conversion coating process is self-regulating, meaning the reaction will cease when the maximum coating weight of 1000 mg/sq.ft is achieved. By eliminating the need for aggressive chemicals, this formula simplifies the application process and reduces related environmental concerns. The use of BONDERITE® L-FM TI-KOTE A can lead to an increase in production efficiency and an overall improvement in the quality of the finished product. Its application not only supports improved tool longevity but also enhances the appearance of the final titanium components, making it a valuable asset in industrial operations.

Features & Benefits
White powder Readily dissolves in cold water Forms a tight, adherent conversion coating on titanium substrates Self-regulated conversion coating Reduces friction during draws to prevent metal pick-up and galling Allows for higher lubricant absorption and faster drawing speeds Eliminates need for hydrofluoric acid and simplifies disposal Prevents wear, breakage, and excess scrap Very little acid misting Low-odor
Problems Solved
Conversion coating that is difficult to handle and apply Poor adherence of conversion coating to titanium surface Galling on the forming die Breakage and wear on formed titanium parts Slow drawing speeds Excess scrap and production inefficiencies Use of hydrofluoric acid resulting in increased disposal costs
Applications
Pre-treatment prior to titanium forming operations, including extrusion and drawing
