Solus™ 5175 is a cellulose-based additive used in wood coatings and lacquers to improve appearance, durability, and early-cure hardness. Of the Solus™ wood coating additives, it imparts relatively low viscosity to formulations. It has good solubility in several solvents and forms colorless solutions with high clarity. When used in wood coating formulations, Solus™ 5175 helps reduce visual defects caused by inadequate flow and leveling properties. It also helps improve durability by rapidly building viscosity in early cure stages, improving scratch and mar resistance. Perhaps the most important benefit of using Solus™ 5175 in wood coatings is its ability to help prevent discoloration in films due to UV exposure. This helps preserve the natural beauty of wood used in both outdoor and indoor environments.
