EPOLENE® N-37 is a medium-density polyethylene wax of low molecular weight primarily used as an additive to improve melting point, set time, and viscosity properties in hot-melt adhesives.
EPOLENE® N-37 is a domestically produced, nonemulsifiable polyethylene wax (PE wax) commonly used as a partial or total replacement of Fischer–Tropsch (FT) wax in EVA- and metallocene-based hot-melt adhesives to improve physical properties. When replacing FT wax, EPOLENE® N-37 increases the peel and shear failure temperature of hot-melt adhesives. It provides these improvements without sacrificing adhesive, cohesive, open time, or set time performance. EPOLENE® N-37 blends well with FT waxes and exhibits good compatibility with tackifiers and antioxidants in hot-melt adhesive formulations.
This polyethylene wax has high melt-point and hardness characteristics and imparts a large degree of resistance to solvents and oils. In wire and cable applications, it improves slump resistance during filling and flooding. It may also be used in ink applications to increase lubricity and abrasion resistance.
