EPOLENE® C-10 is a branched polyethylene wax developed for use as a base polymer in hot melt coatings for paper and packaging.
EPOLENE® C-10 is a highly branched, medium–molecular weight, low-density polyethylene (LDPE) wax intended to be used as a base polymer in hot-melt coatings and hot-melt adhesives for paper and packaging applications.
Hot-melt barrier coatings formulated with EPOLENE® C-10 polyethylene wax exhibit exceptional gloss, grease resistance, low moisture vapor transmission, and excellent heat sealability. EPOLENE® C-10 may also be used in lost wax investment casting to make ceramic molds. For printing ink applications, EPOLENE® C-10 may be used as an additive to improve abrasion resistance, increase surface slip, and reduce the offset of the ink.
The properties of EPOLENE® C-10 wax also make it useful as a low-cost processing aid for rubber compounding and as a dispersing and processing aid in color concentrate masterbatches. When added to a masterbatch at low levels, EPOLENE® C-10 improves pigment dispersion and color yield to achieve a target color using less pigment. Torque and backpressure are also reduced when EPOLENE® C-10 is used in masterbatch compounding, resulting in lower energy consumption and more efficient manufacturing.
When used in elastomer compounding, EPOLENE® C-10 acts as a flow and release agent that allows the elastomer to completely fill and easily release from the mold.
