EPOLENE® C-18 is a low-density polyethylene wax modified with maleic anhydride used in hot-melt coatings for paper, foil, and polyolefin films.
EPOLENE® C-18 is a highly branched, low-density polyethylene polymer grafted with maleic anhydride. When used in hot-melt coatings, it imparts excellent heat seal ability to paper, polyolefin films, and foils. The added functionality of EPOLENE® C-18 is useful in hot-melt adhesive applications, where it can improve hot tack and adhesion to difficult substrates. It also has utility when blended with other waxes to modify viscosity.
In addition, EPOLENE® C-18 wax is an excellent additive for highly filled color and additive masterbatches, where the maleic anhydride grafted to the polyethylene wax polymer provides better compatibility between additives and polyethylene. This allows additive levels to increase without agglomeration or settling. EPOLENE® C-18 is also an outstanding pigment dispersion agent and processing aid for color masterbatches. When added at low levels, EPOLENE® C-18 improves color yield and allows for more efficient masterbatch production.
