Dianal PB-204 is a high-acid-number acrylic resin with low molecular weight used as a modifier in emulsions.
Dianal PB-204 is a high-acid-number acrylic resin typically used as a hardener for various emulsions. Unlike most Dianal resins, which are designed to be used in solvent-based formulations, the high acid number of PB-204 enables it to be neutralized into high-pH aqueous solutions. Dianal PB-204 has a relatively high glass transition temperature (Tg) and low molecular weight. When added to an emulsion system, it improves both early and ultimate hardness, in addition to heat and block resistance. It can achieve these benefits without the need for an additional coalescent. With the increasing shift toward water-based chemistry in the paint and coating industries, Dianal PB-204 is ideal for applications such as low- and zero-VOC architectural paints, industrial coatings, and inks. It may also be used in solvent-based systems, with good solubility in solvents such as toluene, xylene, t-butyl acetate, acetone, and MEK.
