Flame Retardant/Synergist used in conjunction with brominated or Chlorinated compounds to reduce flammability.
FireGard ATO is Antimony Trioxide that is used as a fire retardant in the presence of a halogen source. In PVC compounds it can be used as the primary FR without the need for a halogen based flame retardant. In other polymers that do not contain halogen, a chlorinated or brominated compound must be added to obtain flame retardancy.
Antimony Trioxide (ATO) does not melt or vaporize during normal use and will not form vapors unless heated to extremely high temperatures.
FireGard ATO is suitable for applications where a high tint is acceptable.
