Maleic anhydride modified EPDM, improves impact resistance of polyamides when used in the temperature range of -30 °C to 23 °C.
ROYALTUF™ 485 is a maleic anhydride grafted EPDM impact modifier for polyamides. Imparts "super tough" properties when used at a 20% load rate. As a result of having a semi-crystalline backbone, ROYALTUF™ 485 improves impact resistance when used at temperatures as low as -30 °C.
Appearance: Off-white rubber pellet
EPDM Backbone: Semi-crystalline elastomer
Mooney Viscosity @ 125 °C: 30
Maleic Anhydride Content: 0.4-0.6%
Density @ 23 °C: 0.87 g/cm³
Bulk Density @ 23 °C: 0.6 g/cm³
Glass Transition Temperature: -37 °C
Primary Chemistry: Maleic Anhydride Modified EPDM terpolymer
Can be used at temperatures as low as -30 °C
Food contact approvals
Gives "super tough" properties when loaded at 20%
Poor strength and impact resistance of polyamides at low and sub-zero temperatures
Insufficient toughness in polyamides and polyamide blends
