Elvacite® 4273 is a low-hydroxyl-number, methacrylate copolymer polyol resin used in low-VOC, two-component systems, such as reactive hot-melt adhesives.
Elvacite® 4273 is a low–molecular weight, solid bean resin commonly used as an acrylic polyol in low-VOC, two-component polyurethane and polyurea systems. The Elvacite® 4273 copolymer reacts with isocyanates to form films with exceptional adhesion and UV, chemical, and abrasion resistance. It exhibits excellent compatibility with other resin systems and may be blended to improve weathering resistance and clarity. Since Elvacite® 4273 has a low molecular weight, it enables low-VOC formulations to be made with lower viscosities at higher solids levels. This copolymer resin is typically used to formulate reactive hot-melt adhesives with long open times, good cohesive and green strength, strong adhesion, excellent chemical resistance, and good remelt properties.

Low molecular weight provides good melt flow and enables the formulation of high-solids coating and adhesive systems
Excellent adhesion
Good balance of flexibility and hardness
High durability, UV resistance, and chemical resistance
Great compatibility with other resin systems
Good pigment wetting
High VOCs in solvent-based coating and adhesive systems from using high–molecular weight resins
Low cohesive and green strength of reactive hot-melt adhesives
Yellowing and discoloration from prolonged UV exposure
Low scuff resistance and durability
Poor color strength
Reactive hot-melt adhesives
Polyurethane and polyurea coatings
Elvacite® hydroxyl- and amine-functionalized acrylic resins are ideal for two-component coating and adhesive systems, where they increase durability, adhesion, and visual quality. Learn more here.
