Dianal TB-173 is an acrylic bead resin with a high density of hydroxyl functional groups on the polymer backbone.
Dianal TB-173 is a solid-bead acrylic polyol resin, containing a very high density of hydroxyl functional groups on the polymer backbone, with a hydroxyl number of 86 mg KOH per gram resin. This specification makes it unique amid the range of Dianal resins, as this is among the highest of hydroxyl numbers. These functional groups are used to react with isocyanates to create ambient-cure polyurethanes. Dianal TB-173 is soluble in a variety of solvents, including those which are classified by the U.S. EPA to be VOC exempt, such as t-butyl acetate, acetone, and PCTBF. Dianal TB-173 is used in industrial coating applications with acrylic polyols and in automotive refinish coatings. In automotive refinish formulations, it enhances intercoat adhesion between the topcoat and basecoat. TB-173 forms films that are highly resistant to weathering, abrasion, moisture, yellowing due to UV exposure, and attack from dilute acids and bases.
