EPOLENE® C-17 Polymer
EPOLENE® C-17 is a low-density polyethylene wax designed to be blended with low molecular weight waxes to increase the viscosity of hot-melt coatings.
EPOLENE® C-17 is a medium molecular weight, highly branched, low-density polyethylene wax. It was developed to be combined with other waxes used in hot-melt coatings for paper. It provides increased viscosity, improved grease resistance, higher blocking temperatures, increased gloss, and better scuff resistance when incorporated into hot-melt coatings. For solvent-based and water-based ink applications, EPOLENE® C-17 serves as an additive to provide increased rub resistance, higher slip to printed surfaces, and reduced offset. EPOLENE® C-17 may also be blended with other waxes, such as paraffin wax, to increase the viscosity of the wax blend.
EPOLENE® C-17 polyethylene wax is also commonly used as a base polymer in color concentrates, where it allows for easier processing, improved pigment dispersion, and higher output rates. In addition, EPOLENE® C-17 can be blended with other polymers used in hot-melt adhesive formulations to alter the viscosity and improve the penetration of porous substrates.
