EPOLENE® C-16 Polymer
EPOLENE® C-16 is a polyethylene wax modified with maleic anhydride. It is an ideal base polymer for heat seal coatings for paper, foil, and polyolefin films.
EPOLENE® C-16 is a branched, low-density polyethylene (LDPE) wax that has been modified with maleic anhydride. When used as an additive for paraffin wax hot-melt coatings for packaging materials, it produces a glossy barrier coating that can be heat-sealed to paper, foils, and common packaging films. These coatings that use EPOLENE® C-16 also have increased abrasion resistance, hot tack, and gloss stabilization.
Additionally, EPOLENE® C-16 polyethylene wax is also an excellent dispersion and processing aid for highly filled masterbatches, where it provides improved dispersion and wetting of additives and pigments. In composite manufacturing, the maleic anhydride functionality of EPOLENE® C-16 improves compatibility between polyethylene and other polymers. EPOLENE® C-16 wax can also be blended with other waxes used in hot-melt adhesive formulations to improve hot tack and adhesion.
