POLYOX™ WSR 1105 is a nonionic poly(ethylene oxide) polymer typically used as a thickener and binder in coatings, inks, and adhesives.
POLYOX™ WSR 1105 is a nonionic poly(ethylene oxide) polymer soluble in water. Compared to other POLYOX™ water-soluble resins, POLYOX™ WSR 1105 has an intermediate molecular weight of 900,000 g/mol and creates a solution with 8,800–17,600 cPs viscosity at 5% in water. These properties make it an excellent thickener for water-based systems. POLYOX™ water-soluble resins provide solutions with outstanding wet tack, making them an important additive for adhesive formulations. For example, POLYOX™ WSR 1105 is ideal for creating towel, tissue, and tail tie adhesives that bond paper to paperboard, where the resin redissolves easily in water during recycling and repulping processes due to its high water solubility.
Solutions of POLYOX™ WSR 1105 are highly viscoelastic and make it an ideal rheology modifier for water-based paints and coatings. When the POLYOX™ polymer is added to a paint or coating, it will help improve cling and anti-sag properties.
