MKC™ Silicate MS57 is a specially formulated, medium–molecular weight methyl silicate oligomer recommended as a high-performance additive for paint and coating formulations. Produced via the partial hydrolysis of tetramethoxysilane into a highly reactive silica sol, MKC™ Silicate MS57 offers rapid hydrolysis, high reactivity, and enhanced dispersion with a low residual monomer content. As a paint additive, this material moves silicate molecules to the coating surface during the drying process, increasing hydrophilicity and providing high stain resistance and self-cleaning properties. MKC™ Silicate MS57 is recommended for numerous applications, including surface treatments, hydrophilic glass coatings, architectural coatings, exterior paints, plastic coatings, pre-coated metal coatings and paints, and organic–inorganic hybrid coating materials.
