UCON™ LB-650-X is an ISO 680 polypropylene glycol fluid designed for high-temperature applications.
UCON™ LB-650-X, a propylene glycol, is a high-performing lubricant technology from an alcohol-started base stock featuring oxypropylene groups (m = 0) with one terminal hydroxyl group. UCON™ LB-650-X is water insoluble and has a viscosity of 650 cSt at 100°F. It is particularly well suited for applications requiring high thermal stability without the risk of quickly degrading in hot environments. This polypropylene glycol-based lubricant from Dow is a great solution for any application requiring enhanced oxidative stability—boasting a higher flash point and decreased volatility than conventional hydraulic fluids.
As such, UCON™ LB-650-X has a reduced tendency to become acidic during use compared to other standard lubricants. It is important to note that all improvements from utilizing UCON™ LB-650-X are the result of the lubricant’s antioxidants. As the antioxidants are depleted over time, these improvements may decrease as the antioxidants in the fluid begin to react with oxygen. As the lubricant is being used, the color of the fluid may turn dark brown without signifying any loss of antioxidant effectiveness. Once all the antioxidants are depleted, UCON™ LB-650-X is no more stable than other UCON™ LB fluids.
