Chevron Phillips Chemical Sulfolane
Overview
Chevron Phillips sulfolane and sulfolene is a product line that includes products commonly used to carry out synthetic organic chemistry reactions that are difficult or impossible with other solvents. Sulfolane is a highly specialized polar solvent, used in the aromatic extraction process of benzene, toluene, and xylene from reformed oil refinery streams as well as in circuit board cleaning. Sulfolane is also a component in formulations used to remove acid gases such as CO2, H2S, COS, and mercaptans from natural gas and methane reform gases in ammonia plants.
