REDMOND, Washington, January 3, 2011 -- Univar is delighted to inform you that today we have successfully completed the acquisition of the Quaron business in Belgium and the Netherlands. We will announce this exciting news later today with the attached press release.
 
We are thrilled about acquiring the Quaron business in the Benelux. Today is the result of several intense months of very hard work and pre-integration planning, involving several people from different functions from both Quaron Benelux and Univar. I would like to thank everyone involved for their enthusiasm, drive and dedication over the past months, and look forward to continuing with this good work in order to ensure a successful, seamless and speedy integration and bright future together. This is a historical day for both Univar and Quaron Benelux. Today, after many years of competing in Belgian and Dutch markets, we are now colleagues, striving to work together as ONE successful company.
 
To officially welcome our new colleagues, a small team of Univar’s leaders comprising, Christophe Jeusse, Detlef Prangenberg, Wido Waelput, Bert Vanroye and myself, will introduce Univar at ‘Day 1’ presentations on 10th January at the Zwindrecht (the Netherlands) and Doornik/Tournai (Belgium) sites.
 
This is a great day for Univar and a great start to the New Year. We are confident that this acquisition will significantly contribute to the development of our business and the success of our growth strategy, by strengthening our presence in the EMEA region.  We look forward to an exciting and successful future with our combined business.
