SP-1045 is a heat-reactive resin that is based on octylphenol and formaldehyde. It is designed for curing butyl rubbers.

SP-1045 is used in combination with halogen and zinc donors to produce butyl vulcanizates with outstanding resistance to high heat and compression set.
Vulcanizates cured with SP-1045 are non-blooming, non-staining, and ozone resistant.
In addition, the reactive methylol groups in SP-1045 can be used as functional sites for a variety of reactions such as with rosin for the printing ink market.
