Overview
LOCTITE® SI 598™ is a thixotropic, room-temperature vulcanizing oxime silicone paste sealant developed by Henkel. This premium gasketing solution is a reliable, long-lasting sealant for a wide range of applications. Typical applications include sealing oil pans, transmission pans, valve covers, valves and guides, timing gear covers, and differential covers in automotive and industrial applications.
Upon exposure to moisture in the air, this fast-curing formula has a room-temperature vulcanizing curing mechanism that forms a tough, flexible silicone rubber gasket. The curing time may depend on environmental factors, such as temperature and humidity, as well as the thickness of the applied product.
LOCTITE® SI 598™ provides superior physical properties, making it suitable for demanding applications. Its silicone base offers exceptional versatility, ease of use, and sealing performance, filling gaps and voids between mating surfaces and ensuring a tight, leak-proof seal. It seals against various contaminating fluids, including automotive motor oils, corrosion protection oils, cutting fluids, hydraulic fluids, and more. It also adds flexibility to rigid machine flanges that move during operation while resisting hardening, shrinking, or cracking commonly caused by aging, weathering, and thermal cycling.
