Haltermann Carless n-Hexane 99 Pure is an extremely pure, non-polar liquid alkane with the chemical formula C6H14. N-Hexane 99 Pure is used as an organic solvent for a variety of laboratory & specialized production processes.
Hexane has low solubility in water and excellent solubility in many organic solvents, making hexane an excellent choice for organic extraction. N-Hexane 99 Pure is commonly used to extract fats from seeds, nuts, and fruit. N-Hexane 99 Pure is also used to extract and purify compounds from plants.
Because hexane remains liquid at low temperatures, hexane is often used in the production and modification of polymers and elastomers. N-Hexane 99 Pure dissolves monomers and precipitates polymers to separate the polymers from the solution. N-Hexane 99 Pure is also chemically inert and will not react with other chemicals during polymer production. Polyethylene produced via the slurry process utilizes hexane. Butyl rubber and polybutadiene rubber also uses hexane during production.
N-Hexane 99 Pure is the preferred solvent over lower purity hexanes for pharmaceutical and API manufacturing due to the high purity.
N-Hexane 99 Pure is an important solvent for chemical reactions that use air-sensitive catalysts and organometallic compounds like butyllithium. Butyllithium and other organometallics are strong bases used in the manufacturing of fine and specialty chemicals.
n-Hexane 99 Pure is listed under CAS-No. 110-54-3.
