CHDM-D (1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol) is a high–molecular weight cycloaliphatic glycol chemical intermediate used to create saturated and unsaturated polyester resins used in various industries.
CHDM-D, or 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, is a symmetrical cycloaliphatic glycol chemical intermediate used in the manufacturing process for saturated and unsaturated polyester resins. CHDM-D is often used in conjunction with Eastman NPG™ glycol as a glycol modifier for resins.
CHDM-D provides good resistance to chemicals, stains, humidity, and corrosion in polyester–methylamine baked enamels for coatings for appliances, automobiles, and industrial equipment. In waterborne polyester resins, CHDM-D content is responsible for providing good hydrolytic stability. It may also be used in unsaturated polyester resin applications, including gel coats, sheet molding compounds, and injection moldable FRP.
