CP 343-3-25% is a highly compatible chlorinated adhesion promoter manufactured by Eastman containing 25% xylene solvent. It is used as a stir-in additive or primer for inks, coatings, and adhesives for low–surface energy plastics.
CP 343-3 is a chlorinated polypropylene polymer manufactured by Eastman. It offers excellent compatibility with esters and ketones, making it easier to incorporate into coatings, inks, and adhesives as a stir-in additive. CP 343-3-25% is a 25% solids solution of the CP 343-3 polymer in xylene. If stored in lower temperatures, it is preferred to Eastman's CP 343-3-50%, which is a 50% xylene solution that may present viscosity issues.
When added to formulations, Eastman’s CP 343-3-25% offers improved adhesion to untreated, polyolefin-based plastics, such as polypropylene and TPO, which typically have low surface energy. When used as a stir-in additive, CP 343-3-25% should be added at a rate of 10 parts adhesion promoter to 100 parts coating by weight to maximize adhesion performance.
Compared to the other Eastman adhesion promoters, CP-343-3-25% is highly chlorinated, with a chlorine content of 26%–32% by weight. Its highly chlorinated composition allows for greater compatibility with various coating, ink, and adhesive systems and better solubility in a variety of solvents. CP 343-3-25% is ideal for coatings for polyolefin-based automotive parts, industrial coatings, and inks.
