BASF superabsorbent polymers, including the Medi Gel® and Artic Gel® brands of polyacrylates, are non-toxic granules capable of absorbing and retaining many times their weight in water. They have a unique surface cross-linking chemistry which prevents gel-blocking and allows liquid to flow freely to the particles for efficient absorption. In addition to providing excellent moisture control, they thicken fluids and turn them into a solid gel, swell when in contact with liquid, and exchange ions during absorption.
BASF Superabsorbent Polymers absorb liquid by utilizing osmotic pressure making it ideal for use in a variety of applications, such as waste disposal, agriculture, hot and cool packs, and cables. Superabsorbent polymers are sodium polyacrylate-based polymers that are engineered with high affinity for liquid absorption and can retain extremely large amounts of water relative to its own mass. SAPs are used in a variety of consumer and industrial applications, such as gel packs, hot and cool packs, absorbent and incontinence pads, baby diapers, waste disposal, and agriculture applications.
