HiTEC® 5835H is an olefin-based polymer used as a viscosity modifier for formulating passenger car and heavy-duty engine oils.
HiTEC® 5835H is an amorphous olefin copolymer designed for use as a viscosity index improver for passenger car and heavy-duty engine oils. This product is engineered to effectively balance shear stability and thickening performance, which is critical for maintaining long-lasting oil viscosity under varying temperature conditions. It demonstrates excellent low-temperature properties, making it particularly advantageous for use in colder climates where maintaining engine protection is essential. It readily dissolves in a wide range of base oils, offering great formulation flexibility. HiTEC® 5835H covers key engine oil approvals, such as dexos1, when combined with appropriate performance packages. This product can also be dissolved in a suitable base oil to create a liquid viscosity modifier equivalent to HiTEC® 5754A.

Meets critical engine oil specifications with appropriate performance packages
One of the primary challenges that viscosity index improvers address is their ability to maintain consistent fluid performance across varying temperature conditions. However, they are not without their limitations. These improvers can sometimes shear quickly or fail to thicken adequately, which undermines overall performance during temperature fluctuations. This can lead to compromised engine protection and efficiency, posing significant challenges for lubricant formulators who must ensure optimal performance across diverse operational environments. Furthermore, these formulators also encounter difficulties when attempting to dissolve viscosity modifiers into their formulations, as improper integration can result in inefficient lubrication and increased engine wear.
