Phenothiazine Inhibitors (PTZ)

Overview

WeylChem International’s phenothiazine (PTZ) inhibitors are one of the most commonly used polymerization inhibitors and reaction stabilizers in the world for manufacturing acrylic acid, methyl methacrylate, and a variety of other monomers, derivatives, and intermediates. These monomers and intermediates are used in the synthesis of polymers and chemical compounds, which are frequently used in paints, coatings, water treatment processes, and home and personal care applications.

WeylChem International offers PTZ in prills, dissolved in an organic solvent. The prill format of PTZ is a unique offering of the chemistry that provides better particle-size uniformity, improving solubility in reaction mixtures. It also minimizes dusting, clumping, and physical space required for storage. These products are manufactured using reactors and equipment with maintenance procedures that minimize shutdown frequency and downtime. They can be packaged in various formats with flexibility depending on each facility’s requirements.

The phenothiazine inhibitors that WeylChem International manufactures provide inhibition at very low concentrations through their mechanism as radical scavengers that can be used in high temperatures and in anoxic reaction conditions. These products also offer additional functionality as antioxidants and shortstopping agents. In synthetic lubricant and oil manufacturing, for example, it may be used as an antioxidant to prolong the service life of piston-driven engine oils and compressor and fluid-flow lubricants. When used in chloroprene production applications, it helps control molecular weight as a shortstopping agent and provides storage and transportation stability.
