Furfuryl Alcohol Tech Grade
Furfuryl alcohol is a colorless liquid solvent miscible in water. It is used to synthesize a variety of chemicals for industrial, pharmaceutical, and agricultural applications.
Furfuryl alcohol is a versatile chemical compound primarily used as a starting material in synthesizing pharmaceutical, agricultural, and industrial chemicals. For example, it is used to produce furan resins for composite, adhesive, and coating applications. In pharmaceutical applications, it can be used as a chemical intermediate for active pharmaceutical ingredients or in drug delivery systems. When furfuryl alcohol is used in fungicides and herbicides, it can function as an adjuvant to increase efficiency. Additionally, furfural alcohol is integral in creating resins for sand molds used to create metal castings, providing a degree of robustness that enhances the quality of the final metal products. Furfuryl alcohol is derived from plant biomass, providing a sustainable solvent option compared to those derived from petroleum. For health and occupational safety reasons, skin contact with furfuryl alcohol should be avoided. It is very unstable when mixed with even slight amounts of strong acids.
