Trilene® 65
Trilene® 65 is a low molecular weight liquid Ethylene Propylene (EPDM) terpolymer with 10% diene content for use in rubber, coatings, and adhesives.
Trilene® 65 is a liquid EPDM terpolymer that is used as an additive in rubber compounds and works well in peroxide-cured systems to reduce viscosity. It acts as a reactive plasticizer in rubber compounds without any significant loss of hardness or other mechanical properties. In coatings & adhesives Trilene® 65 is used as a nonpolar, non-crystalline elastomeric material that provides strong adhesion to a variety of substrates. Additionally, Trilene® 65 demonstrates low permeability to gases and water vapor, superior impact resistance, and high flexibility at low temperatures.
Specifications

Easy to process Non extractable Maintains mechanical properties Non-volatile Hydrophobic with low surface energy Compatible with other polymers, oils and solvents Flexible at low temperatures Excellent resistance to moisture, UV light, ozone and chemical degradation Adhesion to various substrates without the use of a primer Good impact resistance
Problems Solved
Need a primer for bonding EPDM coating to a substrate Low impact strength and flexibility of some rubber materials at low temperatures Loss of hardness or change in the mechanical properties with the use of plasticizers Difficulties mixing elastomeric resins and incompatibility with oils and particular solvents Degradation and damage to elastomeric coatings caused by weathering condition including rain and UV light
Applications
Rubber compounding High molecular weight elastomers Thermoplastic elastomers Rubber belts and hoses for Aerospace and Automotive Building & Construction Wire & Cable Weatherstripping Conveyer belts Roof coatings Elastomeric coatings Marine coatings Anticorrosion coatings Barrier coatings that need permeability to air, water and chemicals Elastomeric sealants & adhesives
