METHOCEL™ E10M is a medium molecular weight hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) thickener. It yields a viscosity of 10,000 cP at 2% in water.
METHOCEL™ E10M is a water-soluble HPMC polymer with moderate hydroxypropyl substitution and high methoxy content. METHOCEL™ E10M has compatibility with alcohols and other organic solvents. It also has outstanding pH stability making it an ideal thickener for cleaners and sanitizers. Solutions containing METHOCEL™ E10M are thixotropic and have a high level of lubricity making them easy to dispense, spread or extrude. In addition to rheology modification, METHOCEL™ E10M can be used to form films with good resistance and flexibility. METHOCEL™ E10M will reversibly gel at temperatures over 64°C to provide solutions with a rapid boost in viscosity. This boost in viscosity provides added green strength to ceramics and adhesives.
