This highly refined tertiary-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) food-grade antioxidant was developed for use in stabilizing various oils, fats, foods, and cosmetics against oxidative deterioration, thus retarding development of rancidity in these products and extending shelf life. It is the most effective antioxidant for highly unsaturated vegetable oils and many edible animal fats.
Tenox™ grades feature a base chemistry of tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), or butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), and are also available as blends.
Eastman Tenox™ antioxidants inhibit the rancidity of creams and lotions for a variety of personal care products including skin care, sun care, hair care, color cosmetics, fragrances, and antiperspirants and deodorant.
