DOWCAL™ GEO-100 (previously DOWCAL™ eGEO) heat transfer fluid is a ethylene glycol-based fluid intended for geothermal heat pump systems. The typical ground source heat pump (GSHP) will circulate the DOWCAL™ GEO-100 dilution through the geothermal coils using the earth's constant temperature to exchange hot air for cooler in the summer and cold air for warmer in the winter months. DOWCAL™ GEO-100 is on the positive list of LAWA, meeting all requirements for new formulations.
DOWCAL™ GEO-100 is part of a new generation of application specific heat transfer fluids from Dow Chemical that has been developed to provide geothermal heat pump installers and their customers with greater confidence and peace of mind.
DOWCAL™ GEO-100 (before DOWCAL™ eGEO) was designed to overcome the drawbacks of alternative fluids, providing greater assurance that geothermal systems will repay their initial investment consts in energy savings and in years of reliable, safe and economical operation. GEO-100 (Previously DOWCAL™ eGEO) offers reduced viscosity, increased heat capacity and thermal conductivity, while taking advantage of the excellent heat transfer properties of water over a wide temperature range.
DOWCAL™ GEO-100 is the optimal solution for ground source heat pumps (GSHP), water source heat pumps, direct use geothermal applications and geothermal power plants by providing an array of advantages, such as efficient heat transfer, reliable corrosion control, being inflammable and being low in acute oral toxicity.
DOWCAL™ GEO-100 is on the positive list of LAWA (German Working Group on water issues of the Federal States and the Federal Government represented by the Federal Environment Ministry), meeting all requirements for new formulations.

In colder climates, geothermal systems are at risk of freezing, which cause significant damage to the equipment. DOWCAL GEO-100 (DOWCAL™ eGEO) provides the necessary freezing protection.
Geothermal systems often involve various metals that are prone to corrosion, which can lead to leaks, systems failures and costly repairs.
Accumulation of biological material (Bio-fouling), can occur in geothermal systems, leading to reduced efficiency and increased maintenance needs.
Geothermal systems operate under varying temperatures, which can cause degradation of the heat transfer fluid over time, reducing its effectiveness.
Environmental regulations and the need for sustainable practices necessitate the use of environmentally friendly fluids in geothermal systems.
