Key Properties for Light Diffusion and Optical Applications:
Refractive Index
TSR9000 is featured with spherical shape particles and low refractive index, which typically provides more efficient light diffusion than methyl methacrylate beads. The diffusion property is attributed to the internal reflection angle. A higher reflection angle results in more effective light scattering and optical properties.
Thermal Stability
TSR9000 is featured with excellent thermal stability so that it can be mixed with plastics in typical polymer processing properties, including extrusion. TSR9000 also offers exceptional color stability and yellowing resistance at high temperatures.
Geometry and Particle Size Distribution:
Due to its narrow particle size distribution and spherical shape, TSR9000 silicone resin provides uniform light diffusion properties to plastic and polymeric formulations. TSR9000 is compatible with a variety of polymers, including polycarbonates and acrylics.

Optimize and Control The Light Diffusion Angle and Haze in Polycarbonate and Acrylic Resins:
The graphs above show the performance of TSR9000 in polycarbonate resin
Higher ALDA results in better light diffusion properties
The light diffusing properties are typically attributed to the internal reflection angle and the larger delta refractive index. TSR9000 provides higher total reflection angle resulting in more efficient light diffusion compared to the pure resin and methyl methacrylate beads at lower level of use.
Average light diffusion angle in polycarbonate:
1% TSR 9000: 44°
1% PMMA: 20°
Goniospectrophotometric plot of receiving angle vs. relative transmittance:
Relative transmittance = transmittance at a given receiving angle / transmittance at angle 0° (see yellow line, 100 % transmittance)
Average light diffusion angle (ALDA): Receiving angle where relative transmittance is 50%
