The demand for disinfectants and sanitizers continues to rise while some active chemicals are receiving scrutiny for potential health and environmental concerns. Are you looking for a new active ingredient to add to your portfolio?
Glyclean® D70 may also be used in formulating disinfecting cleaners for use in agricultural premises and food processing facilities, as well as on food processing equipment. Label directions on the end-use product must specify that all food, feed, and animals be removed before application and that a potable water rinse must follow the application.
In the EU, PureTech Scientific is fully committed to completing the BPR process, and Glyclean® D is used in formulations for National Registrations. The BPR process provides a transition period that supports registering new formulations with Glyclean® D.
Glyclean® D showed excellent efficacy against a broad range of bacteria and viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19, at a (> 99.9) kill rate in one minute. Details describing the bactericidal, viricidal, and fungicidal efficacy of Glyclean® are shown in the tables below. The results reported herein were performed by third-party contract laboratories:

Naturally Occurring Chemical
Glyclean® D is a family of disinfecting products based upon the natural power of glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is the smallest of the fruit acids and is found in a wide variety of produce we eat daily. Its small size and unique chemistry make it a highly effective and efficient antimicrobial agent that is easy on the environment. PureTech Scientific glycolic acid, previously manufactured by Chemours, is identical to the glycolic acid found in nature; it is synthesized similar to Glypure™ and other PureTech Scientific glycolic acid products by a highly efficient production process in the United States.
US EPA FIFRA Registrations
In the United States, PureTech Scientific supports the raw material EPA registration under FIFRA for glycolic acid. In addition, multiple product formulations are registered under FIFRA for sub-registration opportunities. Glyclean® D70 has been approved for killing the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the cause of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the Hard Surface Cleaner formulation label is registered with the US EPA and the California EPA for label claims against killing the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Global Registrations
PureTech Scientific provides Glyclean® D regulatory support around the world. In the EU, the Glyclean® D products can be utilized in formulations for national registrations. The BPR process offers a transition period that supports registering new formulations using Glyclean® D. This assures that Glyclean® D formulations will have long-term sustainability, meeting modern and future regulatory requirements. Glyclean® D is currently found in formulations in Canada and many other countries worldwide.
Sustainability and regulatory longevity of Glyclean® D
PureTech Scientific is the only glycolic acid supplier having or pursuing regulatory registrations globally: US EPA registration, Canada, EU BPR, GB BPR, and Korean BPR. PureTech Scientific is also the only glycolic acid manufacturer that has a dedicated technical service group supporting customers with formulation questions and regulatory needs.
PureTech Scientific, previously the Chemours Glycolic Acid Division, has 90 years of experience managing and running large volume glycolic acid production processes and a long track record of reliable supply to a wide range of customers and products. Glyclean® is an excellent alternative to traditional disinfectants facing regulatory pressure, such as quaternary ammonium compounds or quats.
