Refrigerant technology has come a long way in the last 20 years — advancements in chemistry and dedicated focus on reducing global warming potential have shifted and phased out harmful HCFC, HFC, and CFC based refrigeration technologies.  The ComStar line of performance refrigerants easily replace R22 and R404a in a wide variety of applications with a significantly lower environmental impact. 
 

The Trouble with Legacy Refrigerants & HCFCs

Traditional solutions like R-22 and other common refrigerants like HCFC, HFC, and CFC based gas chemistries have been used for decades in commercial & industrial air conditioning (AC) systems for their cooling potential & consistent performance. However, these solutions have very damaging impacts like depleting the ozone layer & contributing to global warming.
 
Governmental regulations and phase out restrictions are in place to limit the damage done to the ozone layer and mandates are in place for low GWP alternative refrigerants.  In fact, the EPA has instituted heavy regulations that have completely restricted R22 refrigerant supplies to prevent damaging potential refrigerant leaks. Maintain cooling performance and consistency and make the switch to ComStar refrigerants.

The ComStar Refrigerants offer the air conditioning industry a low GWP solution with all grades offering zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) for greater peace of mind.  All grades within the RS Series of alternative refrigerants provide compatibility with legacy lubricants like Alkyl Benzene, Mineral Oil & Polyol Esters (AB/MO/POE) without a required unit switch-out. Simplifying the recharge of a variety of air conditioning units with fresh refrigerant lines for long-term heat management.

RS-44b Performance Refrigerant

ComStar's RS-44b is the next generation drop-in replacement for R-22 gas in all applications with a significantly lower global warming potential (GWP) and zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) compared to HCFC or HFC refrigerant.

RS-45 Performance Refrigerant 

ComStar's RS-45 gas is the ideal, drop-in replacement for R-22 gas in flooded chiller systems.  Reduce the environmental impact and switch from HCFC, HFC or CFCs to this high-performance refrigerant with Zero-ODP and Low-GWP.

  • Low Glide Performance Equivalent to R-22

Common applications include, but are not limited to: 
Medium & Low Temperature Refrigeration Applications, Heat Exchanger Recovery Loops, and Chillers with Flooded Evaporators requiring liquid & vapor phase refrigeration. 

RS-50 Performance Refrigerant 

ComStar’s RS-50 is an eco-friendly replacement for R-404A and R-507 with higher energy efficiency and cuts the global warming potential (GWP) in half compared to R-404A or R-507. Mass flow is equivalent to R-22 and considerably less than R-404A or R507.
 
  • Non-ozone depleting and non-flammable
  • Replaces R-22 refrigerant gas in medium & low temp refrigeration applications
  • Compatible with POE lubricants commonly used with R404A
  
Common applications include, but are not limited to:
Supermarket display cases, AC (air conditioning), cold stores, freezers, refrigerated transport, ice machines, cold storage, beer cellars, freeze dryers & environmental test chambers.

RS-51 Performance Refrigerant 

ComStar’s RS-51 is an alternative refrigerants gas solution for R-404A and R-507 with higher energy efficiency and cuts the GWP by nearly 80% compared to R-404A. RS-51 meets the performance requirements of ASHRAE R470B. 
 
  • Reduces impact to ozone layer and is non-flammable
  • Replaces R-22 refrigerant gas in medium & low temp refrigeration industry applications
  • Compatible with POE lubricants commonly used with R404A
  
Common applications include, but are not limited to:
Supermarket refrigeration loops, air conditioner unit (AC), cold storage, freezers, refrigeration transport, ice machines, cold storage, beer cellars, freeze dryers & environmental test chambers.

RS-52 Performance Refrigerant 

ComStar’s RS-52 is an alternative refrigerants gas for R22 and R502 gas with a significant reduction in environmental impact compared to HCFC and HFC emissions. RS-52 meets the performance requirements of ASHRAE R428A.

  • Compatible with MO, AB and POE lubricants commonly used with R502
  
RS-52 Alternative refrigerants can be used in applications that include, but are not limited to:
Supermarket refrigeration loops, air conditioner unit (AC), cold storage, freezers, retrofit or legacy refrigeration unit that calls for R428A Refrigerant.& environmental test chambers.

RS-24 Performance Refrigerant 

ComStar’s RS-24 is an alternative refrigerants solution for replacing R12 in a variety of refrigerant systems. RS-24 meets the performance requirements outlined by ASHRAE R426A, and is an environmentally friendly replacement for HCFC, HFC and CFC gas based refrigerant technology.
 
  • Reduces impact to ozone layer and is non-flammable
  • Replaces R-12 refrigerant gas in medium & low temp refrigeration applications
  • Compatible with MO, AB and POE lubricants commonly used with R12 or R134A
  
RS-52 Alternative refrigerants can be used in applications that include, but are not limited to:
Hermetic and semi-hermetic compressor systems, domestic or industrial refrigerators, transport refrigerant, Cellar cooling, dairy chillers, vending machines, mobile air conditioner units, and more.
