Elvacite® 4345
Elvacite® 4345 is a highly flexible, nonblocking, solid-bead butyl methacrylate resin used as a binder in adhesive, coating, and ink applications.
Elvacite® 4345 is a high–molecular weight, n-butyl methacrylate polymer with a glass transition temperature of 20°C. It features an antiblocking technology that ensures the resin remains a free-flowing bead at room temperature. Elvacite® 4345 is used in inks and adhesives that are applied to smooth plastics and aluminum films. It may be blended with other acrylic resins, cellulose ester, or nitrocellulose cobinders to improve plasticity and adhesion.
The Elvacite® 4345 butyl methacrylate resin can also be used in pigmented lacquers based on vinyl chloride resins to improve outdoor weatherability and resistance. In addition, the ability of Elvacite® 4345 to adhere well to flexible surfaces also makes it an excellent choice as a binder in coil coating formulations. Films formed with Elvacite® 4345 resin are highly flexible and thus ideal for coating flexible metal substrates, such as aluminum. Elvacite® 4345 resin is highly soluble in a wide range of organic solvents and provides great resistance to water, alcohol, dilute acids and alkali, chemical fumes, and corrosive environments.
