TEXTURECEL™ 40000 GA
TEXTURECEL™ 40000 GA is granular, high molecular weight sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. It is used as a gelling agent in leak-resistant packs and a thickener for adhesives and coatings.
TEXTURECEL™ 40000 GA is a high molecular weight sodium carboxymethyl cellulose polymer. It is a naturally derived cellulose ether that can be added directly to water at 2% to produce a gel with 40,000 cPs viscosity. The gel formed by TEXTURECEL™ 40000 GA are well suited for use in leak-resistant gel pack applications. TEXTURECEL™ 40000 GA is also used to thicken water-based adhesives and coatings. It provides improved emulsion stability, increased cling to vertical surfaces, and thixotropic rheology that allows better workability and leveling. Additionally, TEXTURECEL™ 40000 GA is a binder in ceramic manufacturing. It increases the green strength of ceramic parts and provides lubrication for extrusion. This reduces defects and lessens wear and tear on equipment.
Specifications
Viscosity (Brookfield, LVT, SP.3, 30 RPM, 1% dry basis aqueous solution, 25°C): 4,000–5,000 cPs Degree of substitution: 0.82–0.95 pH value (1% aqueous solution): 6.5–8.5 Total salt content (dry basis, max): 0.50
Primary Chemistry: Sodium carboxymethylcellulose
Features & Benefits
Anionic Water soluble at any temperature High surface tension, forms less foam Excellent viscosifier Facilitates reversible viscosity decrease upon heating Stable in a wide pH range from 3.5 to 12 Compatible with nearly all other hydrocolloids No odor and no taste Forms films resistant to fats, oils, and organic solvents
Problems Solved
Defects of ceramics and adhesives caused by poor cohesion and green strength Inadequate leveling and adhesion of coatings, inks, and adhesives due to a lack of shear-thinning rheology Low viscosity of gel pack fluids thickened with superabsorbent polymers Use of rheology modifiers and thickeners that are not based on renewable resources like cellulose
Applications
Aerospace Architectural Automotive Ceramics Corrugated boxes Glues Industrial Machinery and appliances Packaging Paper and consumables Sealants Tapes Textiles Wood glues Adjuvants Agriculture drift Fertilizer additives
