POLYOX™ WSR 308

POLYOX™ WSR N80 is a nonionic, poly(ethylene oxide) polymer that is soluble in water. It has a molecular weight of 200,000 g/mol and is a material that has low toxicity and thermoplastic properties. POLYOX™ WSR N80 is commonly used as a film-forming resin in water-soluble films for agriculture and detergent applications. POLYOX™ WSR N80 will form solutions in water with a viscosity of 65–115 cPs when added at 5%.

Films made from POLYOX™ WSR N80 resin are ideal for seed tapes and coatings as they will not interfere with germination and growth once the seed is planted. Since films formed with POLYOX™ WSR N80 have a high degree of solubility in water, they allow seeds to germinate under controlled conditions and in the presence of both water and nutrients. Films made with POLYOX™ WSR N80 resin are also useful to encapsulate materials, such as agrochemicals and detergents, for safer handling, causing them to only release when in contact with water.

POLYOX™ WSR N80 resin is also an efficient binder for battery electrodes and separators. POLYOX™ water-soluble resins, like WSR N80, dissolve large amounts of inorganic salts. This property enables them to create ionically conductive polymer electrolytes that can be formed into thin films, improving the safety and performance of batteries.
